Horizons in Motion
To Be Honest I'm Driving Through Transition
This week I’ve been driving at the edges of the day.
First, sunrise spilling gold across the road,
then sunset painting everything in shades of farewell.
Many miles. Lots of construction barrels. Changing weather.
There’s something about being in motion during those moments that feels like living inside a metaphor: endings and beginnings stitched together by light.
To be honest, the in-between is both uncomfortable and beautiful.
I’ve been extra reflective. Some things are closing, others are just starting. It’s a season of reset, and I’m learning that we grieve what’s gone even as we lean toward what’s next.
Specifically, my husband and I left the church we had called home after 20 years.
Yeah.
That experience is in the rearview mirror, but the people aren’t. At least I hope not.
Some are asking, “Are we still friends?”
It makes me sad.
That meme carries weight. We changed churches. We’re not in gangs.
But it’s still hard. Awkward. Weird, even.
We know we’re exactly where God wants us.
It’s not so much about what building. It’s all about our obedience.
We look ahead with anticipation.
Still, those sunrises are sometimes tough commutes.
The horizon keeps reminding me: endings aren’t the end. They’re the threshold.
Maybe that’s why the sun rises and sets every single day—
to whisper that we’re allowed to reset.
To let go.
To begin again.
The fading light carries promise, and the dawn carries hope. Together, they tell the story of renewal.
Mine.
My husband’s.
Our marriage.
Our faith journey.
So I’m choosing to notice the light.
To let the colors speak.
To trust that even in the fading, there’s a promise of dawn.
To be honest, I think we all need those reminders.
Where are you seeing horizons this week?
I write fiction that transforms hearts through faith, small-town love, and chocolate therapy.
I usually share highlights from my OG blog to spotlight authors and their new releases. But this week, the featured author is yours truly.
I recently shared some behind-the-scenes insights about my novella Clean Sweep, a story close to my heart. I love Coach Seth and Abbi’s journey, and I’d be honored if you’d take a moment to read their story. If it resonates with you, it would mean so much if you could leave a kind review.
